Touch-free flushing, urinals and taps

Every year, more than 71 million passengers fly to and from Schiphol. Almost all of these passengers use the washroom before and after their flight. Because of the large footfall, extremely high hygiene requirements are set.

In order to minimise the number of hand contact points in the sanitary areas, touch-free technology was chosen. For example, touch-free urinals and taps from Geberit were installed.

In addition to hygiene, comfort also played an important role in the design of the washrooms. For example, there are ‘Shaving Zones’, including hot water and an outlet for the shaver, and ‘Beauty Zones’, consisting of a dressing table with professional lighting.
