Touch-free hand drying taps and soap dispensers

In 2015, OVG – now EDGE Technologies – opened the most sustainable building in the world: The Edge on Amsterdam’s Zuidas. When they renovated the nearby ‘EDGE Olympic’ office building three years later, a new inventory of the most innovative technology took place. In the sanitary areas, touch-free soap dispensers and hand drying taps were installed.

Combining sustainability, design, flexibility and a healthy environment is a huge challenge. In the development of EDGE Olympic, OVG did not want to compromise on any of these areas and was committed to both sustainability and well-being. With an excellent result: in addition to BREEAM certification, EDGE Olympic became the first building in the Netherlands to receive the WELL Platinum certification for healthy buildings.

“EDGE Olympic at the Zuidas in Amsterdam is the first of a new generation of Edge Technologies developments. With the latest technology, the office is strongly committed to the well-being of the user and the environment. For this building, the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry has been chosen in the sanitary areas, so that people can wash and dry their hands completely touch-free.”

Erik Ubels, CTO EDGE Technologies

The washing island in the toilet area is specially designed for the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry and Stern soap dispensers. The sensor-controlled hand drying taps allow users to wash and dry their hands directly above the sink without touching anything. Due to the combination with the Stern touch-free soap dispenser, no concession has been made in the field of hygiene.

Hands are dried with HEPA-filtered air in just 14 seconds, removing 99.95% of all bacteria-sized particles from the air. Due to the efficient design, there are no water drips on the floor and there is no mess with paper towels.
